8th ANIMAFILM Festival Announces the Competition Program

The 8th ANIMAFILM International Animation Festival will take place in Baku at the Nizami Cinema Center from September 3–7, 2025. The festival is organized by the Azerbaijan Animation Association.

The festival’s selection committee has announced the films included in this year’s competition program. We proudly introduce this year’s selection committee members: Demetrios Poursanidis (Greece), Hattie Greenwood (United Kingdom), Maria Afanasieva (Ukraine), Elshan Jabrailzadeh, Masud Alisoy, Vafa Piriyeva, Bahar Zeynalli (Azerbaijan).

The selected films will be evaluated by an international jury and the audience. The winners will be announced at the closing ceremony of the 8th ANIMAFILM Festival. The jury members will be revealed soon.

This year, the festival received 317 films from 62 countries. The selection committee evaluated all submissions and accepted 39 films from 20 countries for the competition. Among these, 10 films are in the local category and 29 in the international category.

The following awards will be presented to the winners:

• The international competition’s prize in the nomination “Best Short Animated Film – Grand Prix”
• The international competition’s prize in the nomination “Best Short Student Animated Film”
• The international competition’s prize in the nomination “Best Short Animated Film for Children”
• The international competition’s prize in the nomination “Best Short Animated Film About Cats”
• Local competition prize for “Best Azerbaijani Short Animated Film”
• The Audience Award Prize
• Special Awards of Partners

Please note that the program and ticket sales for the 8th ANIMAFILM International Animation Festival will be announced in August.
